The "Natural" Shoulder

The "Natural" Shoulder

The "Natural" shoulder is an alternative to a convention shoulder replacement when you have severe glenohumeral arthritis. It is the option that is most like your own shoulder. The "ball" or humeral head is an oval shape, like your own shoulder and not round like the typical shoulder replacements out there. The "socket" or glenoid implant sits inside the bone keeping your own natural shape and contour and not on top the bone like a typical shoulder replacement. This means it is the closest type of replacement like your own shoulder without removing a lot of bone. It only removes the arthritis. Many patients comment after the surgery that it feels "Natural". The implant is a resurfacing of the ball and socket. After recovery patients can get back to their active lifestyle without the restrictions that come with a conventional total shoulder replacement. Dr. Thomas Kovack has 16 years of experience and has implanted the the most "Natural" shoulders in the country in the last several years. If you are or know someone that is a candidate for the "Natural" shoulder then please contact Dr. Kovack's office for an appointment, 614-526-2150.
