If you have been reading our previous blogs, then you already know that the recovery from your biologic total shoulder replacement and resurfacing will be shorter and easier than a traditional shoulder replacement. However, there will still be some recovery time that you will have to live through. We would love to make your recovery as painless as possible, which is why we have come up with these tips on how to prepare for recovery from your surgery:
- Make your meals ahead of time- Make as many meals as you can before your surgery and freeze them. This will save you a great deal of time and energy. You also won’t have to worry about having to lift any heavy pots and pans.
- Make sure things are reachable- Place the things (loose fitting clothes, snacks, etc.) that you might need in waist-high drawers and on low tables where you can easily reach them.
- Keep your house fully stocked- The last thing that you will want to do after your surgery is take a trip to the grocery store, so make sure that your home is fully stocked with everything that you need. Not only will you want to make sure that you have plenty of food and toilet paper, but you also should have the things you need to stay entertained.
- Make sure friends and family are ready to help- Recovery is difficult enough as it is, but when you have to do it alone, it is even harder. Make sure that your friends and family are ready to help when you need them.
